We had the joy of welcoming a group from Kingsbridge Community Primary School back into the gallery for a special visit to our exhibition, Ben Sanderson: Lilies and Illusions. It was wonderful to have the gallery buzzing with energy again, just like when this exhibition was being installed by the group over the summer!
Our Director, Amy led the students on a guided tour, sharing insights into Ben’s creative process and the inspiration behind his vibrant, layered works. The children were fascinated by how Ben draws from nature — particularly flowers and foliage — to explore themes of growth, memory, and transformation.
Following the tour, the group took part in a hands-on engagement activity inspired by the exhibition. Each student created their own illustrations of flowers or birds and designed a unique border for their artwork. These colourful creations then became part of the exhibition itself, adding a wonderful touch of youthful imagination to the gallery walls.
It was a delight to see how engaged and inspired the children were — their enthusiasm brought a fresh energy to the space.
A huge thank you to Kingsbridge Community Primary School for joining us; we hope the visit sparked a lasting love of art and creativity!
