Community Workshop Round-Up – April 2026

April has been an incredibly busy and exciting month at Harbour House. We were delighted to welcome 113 participants across 13 free workshops and events, working alongside five different community groups throughout the month.

Over April, we collaborated with:

  • General public
  • Adults with learning disabilities and differences
  • Socially isolated adults
  • Adults interested in wellbeing
  • Year 4 and 5 students from Kingsbridge Community Primary School

With a workshop or event taking place almost every other day, April was one of our busiest months so far this year. Alongside our regular programme of creative and wellbeing sessions, we also welcomed a group of young people during the Easter holidays for special activities and experiences.

This month, we were also pleased to host three events connected to Tom Kaniok’s exhibition currently showing in the gallery, creating even more opportunities for people to engage with art, creativity, and community.

What We’ve Been Creating

Our April programme offered a diverse range of creative, practical, and wellbeing-focused activities, including:

  • Walking and drawing workshops, encouraging participants to explore creativity through observation and movement
  • Exhibition celebration events, bringing people together around shared creative experiences
  • Mural painting sessions, offering collaborative opportunities for large-scale artistic expression
  • Apple tree grafting workshops, connecting participants with hands-on heritage craft and nature-based learning

Each workshop created welcoming spaces for creativity, confidence-building, and connection, while offering participants the chance to try new experiences in a supportive environment.

Participant Feedback

We are always grateful to hear how these experiences impact those who take part. One participant shared:

“This is the most awesome day of my life!”

Moments like this remind us why accessible creative opportunities are so important and why community-focused work continues to matter.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in April. Your enthusiasm, curiosity, and creativity make these workshops what they are.

Some of these workshops were generously supported by Arts Council England, whose funding helps us continue providing inclusive and accessible creative opportunities for our wider community.
