Tai Chi is an ancient traditional Chinese system of exercise and martial art. Encouraging health and well being, it is an exercise for both mind and body, consisting of carefully co-ordinated natural movements. Tai Chi can be practised by persons of all ages.
Derek has over 30 years' experience of Tai Chi and traditional Chinese arts. He has studied with a variety of teachers, both western and oriental. He practices Yang and Chen style Tai Chi and Bagua. For the past 20 years Derek has been a member of the Zhong Ding International Martial Arts Association and has studied with Masters Nigel Sutton, Tan Mew Hong, Tan Ching Ngee, Lau Kim Hong and the late Liang He Ching. He has also studied Bagua with Master Gao Jiwu both in the UK and South East Asia.
Derek is an ongoing student of Master John Fowler and is presently a 4th Duan Master Instructor for the Association. Derek teaches Cheng - Man - Ching style Tai Chi, with all the traditional elements, using a modern, friendly approach. All classes include Chi-Kung as an integral and complementary art to the practice of Tai Chi.
