For nearly ten years The House Group has been exploring environmental concerns through artwork and interactive exhibitions, and The Blue and the Green will offer a retrospective journey through moors, trees and rivers to the coast.
The exhibition will include printmaking with natural materials and a range of works in mixed media, as well as photographs printed on canvas. Multimedia works include timelapse photography and soundscapes, and for the event the group has commissioned a poem.
Collaborations with Surfers Against Sewage and the National Trust have enabled workshops and activities for children and have helped to bring environmental concerns to a wider audience.
The Blue and the Green draws on the success of earlier exhibitions at Harbour House:
Loving the Beach, 2013
The Magic Forest, 2015
Sea Sense, 2017
Two artists feature in this year’s House Group exhibition: Rod Birtles, photography, and Alison Theaker, multimedia works, printmaking and collage. A significant collaboration at Delamore Arts in 2014 involved a delightful arts trail in the woods, using natural and recycled materials to explore musical themes, and included a giant rain stick, a bathtub marimba and a set of chimes made from old sash weights.
