For over thirteen years Emma Carter has been a regular exhibitor at Harbour House with her fresh, atmospheric paintings of coasts and seascapes. She describes her style as ‘contemporary impressionism’, and her most recent works bring more depth and expression to her familiar light, bright palette.

“My practice is based on an expression of a place rather than a realistic interpretation. I like to allow the atmosphere and free-spirited essence of a place to feed our souls, and I mainly paint from my head, allowing this to freely flow out. I don’t get caught up in too much detail and I like to offer just a focal point of a small sail boat or a tree for perspective, literally and metaphorically.”

Throughout Emma’s exhibition she will be painting in the gallery and will be happy to chat about her work at any time.
