2 November: Freehand Machine Embroidery
Come and spend an enjoyable day playing with colourful fabrics, threads and sewing machines! "Many of my students just like to get carried away 'playing' with fabrics and experimenting rather than feeling under pressure to come up with a finished 'thing' to take home!" You are under no pressure at all to complete an item during our day workshops however if you would like to complete a cushion or some such item, you are more than welcome. Please make sure that you have a plate cover or that you can lower the feed dogs on your machine. Annie likes to teach you on your own machines so that you are familiar with the settings and can then recreate these when you are home after the course. Annie has been working with freemotion, or freehand machine embroidery for 20 years and will happily teach you lots of top tips and tricks on the day. Bring along your machine, some ideas or inspiration as a starting point and any bits and pieces you feel you may want to incorporate in your work.
Most materials are included and lots of complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the day! Class groups are deliberately kept small so that everyone will get lots of help and attention. Haberdashery items will be available to purchase at the workshops, helping you to keep stitching when the classes have ended.
Annie Morris is a textile artist based in Devon. She specialises in luxury machine embroidered items for interiors.
