Yoga begins with the breath. How we breathe effects everything we do and how we do it. Breath is the foundation of life but it can do so much more than simply sustain us. By changing how we breathe we can free our mind and connect to our body.
Well-Woman Yoga uses breath and movement to support female emotional and physical health. It is in the dialogue between the breath and the body that we are able to liberate and heal the mind, body and heart. This is Yoga.
"I initially found yoga in my mid-twenties when I was looking for something but not sure what. I knew my back hurt a lot of the time and I was having trouble sleeping. I was fortunate to find a teacher I connected too and almost immediately noticed the difference in my physical and emotional health. By the time I was thirty, yoga was truly a big part of my life. After the birth of my second child I suffered some more physical set-backs and went back to see the very same yoga teacher I had started with 8 years previously. He liked the way that I had developed a confident and mature approach to my practice and suggested I thought about training to become a yoga teacher. I started the British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma that year. By then I had experienced several different ‘styles’ and enjoyed a slightly hotchpotch mixture of all the influences I had experienced from different teachers. Ten years on from the start of my teaching career little has changed. Rather than adhering to any particular style, I like to cherry pick believing that all types of yoga have something to offer someone. However, if I had to pick a favourite it would be the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli, not least because she was a visionary who revolutionised yoga in the West but because she was woman who used her intuition, imagination and insight to create something beautiful."
