“The first steps of my ongoing journey of photography were taken as a child in a creative yet practical family. I was able to observe and learn from skilled relatives as I ambled along and milestones manifested themselves, mostly minor but each contributing to the fascinating journey: painting with light.
For this exhibition I will include ‘pictures of my life’, compositions that I know I can never better, and images that have stayed with me as landmark friends, reprocessed possibly from the original raw files, but reprinted to the standard that the last few years’ knowledge of printing techniques has enabled me to achieve. As ever, the new work will reflect observations from the macro to panoramic worlds, from locations near and far, but displaying my unique way of seeing things and encouraging viewers to formulate their own observations on the images’ stories.”
In recent years Maureen has tutored and mentored, and has given lectures for photographic clubs. She has photographed concerts and recordings of musical events in Yorkshire, Liege, Brittany and Seoul, and produced photography for CDs for musicians in Brittany and Portugal. Her botanical recording work for The Garden House at Buckland Monachorum has been included in a published book and continues to be used in banner form for displays and other publicity, while her record-keeping project at Fast Rabbit Farm Gardens, Dartmouth, is also continues and is used for horticultural lectures by the owner and in publicity.
Maureen’s journey will proceed, but a slower pace and with greater wisdom, selectivity and focused understanding, and without losing any of the curiosity, awe and wonder of the child.
