A Celebration of Children's Art
Saturday 11 February - Wednesday 1 March 2017
10 am - 5 pm
The Harbour House year of exhibitions traditionally starts with Primary Colours, and this colourful exhibition of primary schools' art work remains a firm favourite for local artists as well as local families. Thirteen primary schools are invited to loan us drawings, paintings, collage, printmaking and sculpture for this exhibition which offers inspiration to artists of all ages and brightens up the gloomy days of winter.
Picasso recognised the freshness and vitality of children's art work when he said, 'Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up', and amongst the community of local artists in the South Hams many insist that Primary Colours is the highlight of the gallery year.
More than 1,000 people visited the 2016 Primary Colours exhibition, and comments in our visitors’ book included:
"This exhibition is always the highlight of the year - wonderful colours and ideas"
"A riot of colour - a feast for the eyes"
"Well done all - an inspiration to older people!"
"As a degree student in fine art, I learned a lot here today!"
"What a treat on a wet day. Colour and imagination. Keep painting, drawing and crafting!"
